I always loved Queen, the singing group. As a teacher, I used the lyric to one of their songs, Under Pressure, as part of a poetry unit.The students read the lyric, discussed its meaning, then listened to the song. As they listened, they read the words and another discussion ensued, this time about how the musicians conveyed the meaning through melody and tone. It was a great class.
The words are very powerful and deeply moving. You can find them on one of the many lyric sites; just do a search for 'Under Pressure by Queen lyric' and you'll get a host of choices.
I heard the song shortly before New Year, 2012, and was inspired to create this mixed media piece. It's an ACEO, and one of my favorites.
